The Department of Psychology invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Psychology, Diversity Science Specialty. The position begins in August 2023. West Chester University, a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, is a public, comprehensive institution committed to offering high-quality undergraduate education, selected post-baccalaureate and graduate programs, and a variety of educational and cultural resources for its students, alumni, and citizens of southeastern Pennsylvania. The department accomplishes its mission via effective recruitment and retention, training, ground-breaking clinical work, advancing research, community service, and innovative teaching, while demonstrating open and productive dialogue, advocacy, and support. The faculty member's experience, expertise, and specialized training will serve to strengthen the department's mission, vision, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate is an applicant whose work focuses on diversity science (e.g., the scientific study of racism or antiracism; feminism or intersectionality; socioeconomic and health/mental health disparities; bias; socioeconomic or structural factors that reinforce and reproduce oppressive conditions and their cognitive, behavioral, or social-emotional correlates; or the application of psychological knowledge to social justice). RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Teach four courses in both the fall and spring semesters. Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the areas of Psychology and Diversity Science. Additional courses within area of specialization may be assigned based on departmental needs. Establish a productive program of diversity science research that includes student researchers. Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications. Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees. Mentor and advise students. Other duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsD. in Psychology. (ABD may be considered. Must be conferred before August 2023). Demonstrated experience teaching in higher education. Research productivity in diversity science as evidenced by peer reviewed publications. Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate student research. Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research. Demonstrated experience teaching or preparing to teach one or more of the following classes: Multicultural Psychology, Psychology of Women, and other classes related to diversity of science.
