Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA. The San Jose facility specializes in motion control systems and the design and development of prototype control components such as electromechanical actuators, control electronics, and embedded software and firmware.Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Job Description:Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff FPGA Design Engineer to develop digital logic designs for motion control system applications based on specifications and goal---oriented objectives. This position is responsible for the design, development, creation and modification of digital logic designs implemented with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGA IDEs. Scope of responsibility also includes verification of FPGA logic designs, compliance requirements, and validation at the system level. Coordinates with members of multi---functional teams to develop innovative solutions for implementation of electrical design with the greater electro-mechanical and propulsion system.This position can be filled at either the Principal FPGA Design Engineer (3) / Sr. Principal FPGA Design Engineer (4) level, depending on years of experience and qualifications.Basic Qualifications Principal FPGA Design Engineer (3):Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years professional experience with a related Master's degree or PhD in Engineering.Experience with the use of various FPGAs and the development of HDL (Verilog and VHDL) code within the corresponding IDE.Experience working with 3-Phase Brushless DC Torque Motor drives: FOC Drive Logic implementation in FPGAExperience with resolver, encoder, and LVDT signal processing.Experience working in a cross functional environment (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, test engineering, production engineering, etc.) to translate customer requirements and functional block diagrams into realized FPGA / Digital Logic DesignsProven ability to define development test plans and methods to ensure a robust design is achieved and validates the design against customer, internal and regulatory / government requirements.Strong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.Is able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Comfortable in a fast paced, rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.Is able to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional team members.
