We are looking for a Global Engineer, Adhesives Specialist. -The Global Engineer, Adhesives Specialist understands current and future customer and OEM protection product requirements of products that currently or have potential to utilize adhesive technology and customer manufacturing processes and techniques in order to determine and understand how they can use Tenneco SP products

RESPONSIBILITIES: -

  • Attend customer trials of new and existing SP protection products for the purposes of educating the customer on installation techniques as well as determining customer likes and dislikes of the product so that product improvements can be made. Utilize these trials to make recommendations to customer and internal teams.
  • Work closely with the Tenneco SP Product Engineering and/or Product Development during all stages of product development. -Ensure that customer expectations are relayed to Product Engineering and/or Product Development and that the customer fully understands all aspects of the product.
  • Make sure that key project personnel in Product Engineering are familiar with the specific applications associated with their project. Part of this may include taking them (in conjunction with the appropriate sales person) to see the application and/or customer.
  • Create product designs and specifications in conjunction with Product Engineeirng and Research and Development. Ensures new products are designed to meet customer expectations. -
  • Interfaces with Purchasing and various suppliers to implement recommendations resulting in cost improvement and supplier diversification.
  • With the help and support of the sales representatives, seek new product applications with customers for adhesive based products.
  • Assist the Global Sales team in recommending products for customer applications. This involves acting as a technical resource for the Sales Team and assisting them on sales calls when appropriate.
  • Submit requests to Product Management for new products after it has been determined that existing products will not satisfy the customer's requirements. These requests should include a summary of the expected market potential of the product.
  • Assist Product Management in gathering information on market potentials, competitive products and technological trends.
  • Ensure that the Sales Group, Product Management, Program Management/Product Engineering, Product Development, Quality and Manufacturing are fully aware and informed of potential new product releases and quality and testing requirements.
  • Prepare customer specifications, internal specifications, and internal drawings of SP product.
  • Initiate New Product Introduction requests (NPIs) as appropriate for testing and samples required by customers. Work with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to ensure timely completion.
  • Support the company's APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process to maximize the success of developing and tracking a product or process through its development life cycle.

    Required Experience:EDUCATION: -BS Chemical Engineering or similar discipline with extensive knowledge of adhesive -SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: -
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with adhesives / preferred 10 years experience in manufacturing and/or product development of adhesive based products, preference to have within the automotive industry. Application engineering experience and previous working relationship with Automotive OEM or Tier 1&2 design engineers a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and solve customer problems.
    • Outstanding inter-personal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with all levels, departments and operations of the company
    • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings and product specifications.
    • Self directed and have a passion for results
    • Ability to travel frequently both regionally and globally, at times up to 50%.
    • Knowledge of a second language, Spanish, French, German, Japanese or Chinese is helpful
    • Computer Aided Design (CAD) - 2D &3D
    • Design Process Failure Mode Analysis (DFMEA)
