position within the engineering field. Conducts complex work
important to the organization. The incumbent in this position
contributes to measurable team and/or organizational objectives.
Minimal supervision is required and wide latitude for independent
judgement is given. Judgement used to provide solutions to issues.
Design:Utilize established engineering principles in the design and
development of life critical components for use in extreme
environments Design, create, and repair softgoods and hardware
components or sub-assemblies using applied engineering principles,
including solid and fluid mechanics, and heat transfer Create
prototypes and conduct testing to ensure design performs as
expected Work with fabrication and manufacturing departments to
ensure final design is properly executed in the creation of
mechanical products Understand requirements to ensure designs are
compliant before and during construction Create and interpret
blueprints, technical drawings, patterns, and schematics Use
drafting tools or computer-aided design (CAD)/drafting equipment
and software in design work Communicate design features at design
reviews to inform development process and inform customers. May
manage project schedules and budgets May evaluate the cost and
maintenance requirements of design Qualifications: Must be able to
access shared database with government programs (U.S. Citizen or
Permanent Resident of the U.S.) Bachelor of Science Degree in
Engineering, or related field of study; 6-9 years of experience
performing similar tasks is preferred Proficiency with word
processing software; spreadsheet software; intermediate CAD & 3D
modeling Demonstrated, strong communication skills, both verbal and
written Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with peers and
cross-functional teams and external customers Demonstrated project
organizational skills, including methods of working multiple
projects, organizing and upkeep of project files, utilization of
email and calendar systems, meeting scheduling, keeping meeting
minutes, and planning methods for schedule completion Learn and
utilizes internal process documentation, acronyms, and general
procedures, including the ability to create or generate engineering
change documents, disposition of quality discrepancy reports,
requisitioning for procurement, and release documentation
