Job Summary:
Manufacturing Engineers focus on applying engineering principles to
the development and implementation of manufacturing processes,
equipment & tools. Incumbents must coordinate with design engineers
and other support teams to ensure efficient production of
products.
Essential Job Duties:
--- Research, design, and develop the organization's manufacturing
and fabrication methods, tools, and systems
--- Evaluate product design for manufacturability and suggest
design process adjustments and quality improvements
--- Engage in the selection, development, and testing of tools,
fixtures, machinery, and equipment used in manufacturing
--- Investigate manufacturing processes for cost reduction
opportunities
--- Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout in
order to maximize efficiency
--- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering,
process, and/or production teams to meet quality, productivity, and
cost objectives
--- Requires moderate skillsets
--- Conducts tasks and assignments as directed
--- Works under moderate supervision with some latitude for
independent judgment
Industrial
--- Design, improve, and implement plans to increase the efficiency
of processes, procedures, and people
--- Conduct analysis of business processes, manufacturing
processes, or human workflow
--- Apply statistical methodologies and perform mathematical
calculations to optimize performance and reduce wasted resources,
including time, money, materials, and energy
--- Design layouts, sequences, and timing of events. Establish work
measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards
for worker utilization
--- Implement improvement plans, including workflow modification,
procedural/process updates, and reorganization of job duties
Manufacturing Process
--- Evaluate, select, procure, install, and troubleshoot
manufacturing equipment
--- Perform ongoing maintenance tasks, repairs, modifications, and
upgrades on manual and/or automated equipment
--- Keep records of equipment performance and problems
--- Suggest and implement changes to enhance equipment safety,
quality, and output
--- Collaborate cross-functionally on projects with design,
engineering, process, quality, and/or production teams
--- Design, develop, and implement the processes, tools, and
procedures used for testing in manufacturing
--- Create automated test scripts and execute test plans on
products, manufacturing methods, and equipment
--- Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and testability,
identifying problems early in the design process before
manufacturing begins
--- Interpret and analyze results and suggest corrective action
plans
--- Monitor the initial configuration and manufacturing
parameters
--- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering,
process, quality, and/or production teams to optimize manufacturing
quality and efficiency
--- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs),
standard work instructions, and safety guidelines
Manufacturing Automation
--- Develop, implement, test, and maintain automated machinery,
processes, and control systems for the manufacturing operation
--- Gather requirements and create specifications for the design of
automated control systems that meet safety, quality, functionality,
cost, and time objectives
--- Assess effectiveness of automated testing protocols and
systems
--- Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and enhance automation equipment
and systems
--- Provide daily controls engineering support to plant
operations

Qualifications:
--- Must be able to work on government contracts directly or access
shared data resources (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the
U.S.)
--- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline and at
least 4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination
of STEM related degree and experience
--- Proven Ability to define problems, collect data, establish
facts, and draw valid conclusions
--- Demonstrated time management skills; ability to handle multiple
tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
--- Knowledge of or ability to learn all operations utilizing the
equipment in assigned area
--- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and related
software applications; order processing systems; project management
software, manufacturing software and database software.
