The Designer/Project Manager (D/PM) manages all aspects of
integration-based projects from site survey and cost estimation
through project commissioning.
The role does include occasional travel to client sites, vendor
trainings, etc--- The D/PM is encouraged to work from the office or
home as the requirements of ongoing projects permit. Company
vehicles are available for all work related travel.
Needs Assessment - The D/PM assists Sales/Account Manager (S/AM),
when/as requested, on project sales calls, whether via audio, video
or in person. The D/PM is an integral part of finding the right
solutions to meet client needs.
Site Survey - The D/PM is responsible for managing all site
surveys, whether conducted by themselves or delegated to field
installation team. The D/PM is responsible for defining all
necessary aspects of the survey to guarantee a successful
System Scope - The D/PM assists the S/AM with system scope
definition, both during the initial needs assessment as well as
after the site survey to ensure that client's needs are fully
understood and that client's expectations are reasonable and can be
met given any constraints in site, budget or available
Cost Estimation - The D/PM is responsible for developing cost
estimation and job scope for S/AM's proposal. This may even include
preliminary rough drawings. However, the S/AM is responsible for
final pricing and preparation and presentation of proposal as well
as all non-project related account management.
System Design and Documentation - The D/PM is responsible for all
aspects of system design, including document development,
including: scopes of work, room plans, room elevations, wiring
diagrams, rack elevations, control scopes, Bills of Material (BOM),
etc, even if delegated to other team members.
Ordering - D/PM is responsible for scheduling of BOM ordering,
(though ordering is done by Purchasing Department), to provide for
coordination with internal and external labor scheduling.
Labor Scheduling - D/PM is responsible for all labor scheduling,
both internal and external as well as all schedule coordination
with client, building owners, architects and other trades.
Project Coordination - The D/PM is responsible for all project
coordination with the client, building owners, architects and other
trades. This includes attending project meetings via audio, video
or in person, as required by the project's other stakeholders. The
D/PM may delegate to other staff certain aspects, including project
meeting attendance as deemed suitable to protect our interests and
the success of the project.
Systems -Commissioning and Training - D/PM is responsible for the
scheduling and coordination of all system commissioning tasks and
training. The D/PM ensures that S/AM or other designated personnel
are fully competent to deliver systems training after system is
Vendor and Technology Awareness - The D/PM shall routinely explore
and maintain relationships with vendors and available technologies
to ensure that the team is aware of and has access to the relevant
technologies required to deliver state of the art solutions for our
