Success in this role will be measured by category savings achieved while meeting goals for supplier quality standards and delivery performance. Commodity Managers also monitor market conditions to ensure best available information is provided to the organization for new product and financial planning purposes. Essential Job Functions: Drive productivity savings based on total cost of ownership through cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, operations, finance, and product engineering. Develop commodity supply strategies based on current and future (i.e., new product launches) internal requirement(s) and external market research, inventory efficiency, and capacity coordination.Deploy change management strategies into the commodity supply base through strategic supply chain agreement negotiation, supplier development plans and new supplier identification and onboardingResearch, recommend and certify new suppliers who can provide superior products and services at pricing which meets or exceeds the marketplace Analyze inventory usage trends for the purpose of creating and maintaining appropriate to minimize supply chain disruption, maximize inventory performance and working capital.Monitor relevant indices and share that information with the business to understand cost and potentially impact inventory strategiesChampion supplier delivered innovation and improvements in performance and productivity.Liaise with operations to develop capacity plans to meet the longer-term demand requirements Collaborate with the business units and production teams on projects as needed, i.e., new product launches and inventory initiativesDevelop product standard costs, continuously monitor performance, and develop mitigation plans for unfavourability.*This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field of study; comparable combination of education and years of experience will be considered Level of Experience: 5+ years of commodity managementExperience in the Life Sciences industry preferredDemonstrated strong analytical skills, problem solving and learning abilityDemonstrated ability to work within defined processes and identify process improvements; lead, drive and sustain improvements Demonstrated ability to participate and lead teams in a homogenous or cross-functional environmentDemonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and adjust those priorities to maximize outcomesDemonstrated proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Locations with U.S. Government Programs: Must be able to access shared database with government programs (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.)Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
