Director, Software Engineering - Cloud Data Analytics

The Cloud Operational Data Insights and Analytics team (CODIA) within SEO is seeking a Director of Software Engineering who is passionate about growing and sustaining an innovative technology organization while fostering a culture of engineering and operational excellence. This individual will be an engineering leader who enjoys leveraging data in solving complex operational and business challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative, inclusive, and iterative delivery environment. At Capital One, you'll be part of a big group of builders, breakers, doers and disruptors, who love to solve real problems.

As part of this role, you'll work on designing and implementing home grown cloud native solutions as part of the CODIA platform and will have opportunity to work on emerging technologies such as: GO, Python, EMR/Scala, streaming solutions, NoSQL databases, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure to name a few. From developing and sustaining data engineering pipelines providing TBs of near real-time usable data, to instrumenting analytical capabilities driving actionable outcomes across the enterprise, you'll have the opportunity to truly make a difference in providing the critical insights to meet operational, business, and strategic needs.

You will:

• Lead multiple delivery teams and coach team through their career development and performance
• Develop the technical strategy, roadmap and vision for the platforms you own
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios - Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
• Identify risk and drive mitigation through proactive control creation and management in partnering with our audit partners
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
• Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments Basic Qualifications:
  
  - Bachelor's Degree
  
  - At least 7 years' experience in software development
  
  - At least 5 years' experience in people management
  
  - At least 3 years' experience in platform operational management and support
  
  - At least 2 years' experience in Data Engineering and/or Analytics
  
  Preferred Qualifications:
  
  - Master's Degree
  
  - 10+ years' experience in software development
  
  - 3+ years' experience with Data Engineering and/or Analytics
  
  - 5+ years' of experience in Agile practices
  
  - Experience with SRE best practices and implementation
