What You Will Do:
The Director of Operations will direct and oversee a team providing
support to distribution operations with a complex multimillion
dollar, commodity-based inventory across the United States and
Canada. Ensuring the distribution center teams across the network
have the tools, equipment, processes, and training to execute the
day-to-day work and grow the business in a fast paced, dynamic
environment is the primary focus of this role.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supports the Distribution Center leadership teams in executing
day to day distribution center activities nationwide, ensuring
progress relative to a balanced set of KPIs in the areas of safety,
quality, delivery, inventory management and cost.
- Ensure consistent focus on and application of all safety
standards. Promotes a "safety first" culture that empower all team
members to work safely and report any concerns
immediately.
- Oversees upkeep of company-utilized real estate, property,
equipment, and safety procedures including but not limited to
audits, security protocols, regular maintenance, and contractor
management.
- Ensures Real Estate Manager has tools required to keep
facilities efficiently running in safe and best condition.
- Reviews recommendations on purchases of new equipment and
improvements to company property.
- Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within
functional areas. Makes recommendations and implements solutions to
problems, adjusts operational budgets and expenditures to promote
profitability.
- Regularly evaluates the efficiency of business procedures
according to organizational objectives, designs and implements
improvements in partnership with key stakeholders using Lean tools
and techniques to oversee continuous process improvement
initiatives related to all distribution activities.
- Ensures consistency in process/standards throughout the
distribution network including but not limited to process
documentation and training.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with the sales team, supply
chain / purchasing team and business development team on
operational objectives and priorities for growth initiatives and
new products/services.
- Responsible for and capital budgeting and tracking of capital
expenditures.
- Liaise with IT team regarding ERP functionality and
improvements, data reporting, technology solutions for the
distribution centers (i.e. scan guns)
- Regular travel to United States and Canada based locations.
What You'll Need:
- Minimum 10 years distribution, light manufacturing, or
requisite experience, including military leadership experience
required.
- Experience in managing multi-site facility, engineering,
maintenance and equipment resources and budget
- Proven track record collaborating with cross-functional teams,
include inside and outside sales teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work streams and
prioritize multiple and conflicting tasks.
- Must possess clear business writing skills and ability to
convey ideas in a concise and clear way.
- Deep understanding of diverse business functions and principles
(e.g. supply chain, finance, freight, etc.).
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset including the
application of Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques.
- Must be proficient in MS Office products and ERP
systems.
- A calm, level-headed demeanor and positive attitude when
dealing with stressful situations.
- Demonstrated team building skills with both
inter-and-intra-department personnel,
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree a plus.
- Bilingual strongly preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
