Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring scientifically
based nursing care for the Perioperative and procedural patient
population. This team member achieves this by providing direct and
indirect care to patients and their families, promoting
professional development, disseminating research and collaborating
with interprofessional teams. The role of the CNS or Clinical Nurse
Educator is directly aligned with the pursuit of national
recognition for nursing excellence through their work to advance
nursing practice and improve the patient care environment.
Facilitator of Learning: Demonstrates clinical expertise while
supporting clinical nurses to integrate new evidence into practice.
Provides education to clinical team, patients and family.
Collaboration: Focuses on (and role models) interprofessional team
building and effective team functioning. Response to Diversity:
Reviews alternative approaches and implementing planned change to
meet needs considering racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and other
types of diversity. Clinical Inquiry: Interprets and uses research
to evaluate practice, and collaborates in research projects.
Systems Thinking: Responsible for innovation and change in the
patient care system. Recognizes how changes in one part of the
system might impact other components of the system. Caring
Practices - Responds to subtle patient and family changes: engages
with the patient and family as partner in the pursuit of mutually
established goals. Advocacy/Moral Agency: Influences the
negotiation of moral dilemmas, allocating resources, directing
patient care and access to care. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS A.
Education, Training and Experience Graduate of accredited school of
nursing, MSN required or BSN and currently enrolled CNS or Master's
Degree in Nursing Education program Minimum five years related
clinical experience, Perioperative Nursing experience required. B.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, Credentialing Current
Registered Nurse license in the State of Delaware Advanced Practice
Nurse license and board certification in the State of Delaware as a
