General Description of the Position

Under general supervision, performs duties that are well-defined and governed by established policies, procedures, and regulations. Data classification and entry requires some judgement and/or attention to detail. Problem challenges are routine yet involve some interpretation of policy and the ability to locate sources of missing data. Work contacts extend beyond the immediate work area to other University staff and outside sources. Performs data entry into the State of Delaware Payroll PHRST and Banner Human Resources Information Systems, audits and maintains system integrity; generates reports.

Essential Functions

The following are the functions essential to performing this job:

* Input workers compensation
* Inputs/changes current payroll Earnings Distribution on Payline Security
* Input student and staff tax data (W-4) into the PHRST system
* Check student timesheets for accuracy of student payroll
* Post student time sheets in the Banner and PHRST
* Print all Student Payroll Reports from the PHRST system
* Check daily error reports from the PHRST system
* Input general deduction for students and staff into the PHRST system
* Input direct deposit data for students and staff into the PHRST system
* Post Leave Request forms for faculty/administrative/professional staff into the leave database and remove any duplicate entries
* Complete all requests for reissue/lost replacement payroll checks into the PHRST system
* Process on-demand checks (when requested) for students
* Process all payroll corrections for students in the PHRST system (DCR)
* Reconcile/balance PHRST system payroll report with report from Banner
* Assist staff and student employees at the payroll window
* Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate personnel
* Monitors web time entry and contacts supervisors with any discrepancies, i.e., time sheets not started, pending approval, incorrect hours, returned for corrections, etc.
* Manually enter late time sheets into the Banner payroll and Web time Entry systems
* Run the payroll process in Banner and check for errors
* Provide leave reports upon request from all staff
* Post Times sheets for Classified Employees
* Monitor payroll email accounts
* Complete all student employment verification requests on a daily basis
* Performs related duties as assigned/required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or high school diploma and acceptable combination of formal training and experience.
* Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision. Employees in this class may supervise employees of lesser rank or student employees.
* Ability to interact with general public in good working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
* One year of hands on payroll experience.
* One year of experience with Microsoft Office or acceptable combination of computerized financial systems.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

* One years of payroll experience with the State of Delaware PHRST System.
* Preferably one years of hands on experience with a higher education institution payroll or accounting system.

5. Demonstrate knowledge of management principles, budgeting practicing and principles, and personnel relations.
