This position is in Exelon Utilities' Grid Analytics unit and
will play a crucial role in providing analytics coverage for Tech
Services, Transmission & Substation, Operations and Safety
organizations across our six utilities. This position is
responsible for enabling Exelon Utilities to be a data driven
organization to leverage smart grid and customer data to generate
actionable intelligence, improve decision making, drive innovation,
and unlock new business insights.
Examples of use case areas include leveraging satellite, LiDAR
and drone data for asset health detection and optimizing vegetation
management, leveraging safety performance and fleet telematics to
improve safety for our employees, using our Data Analytics
Platform, which includes data from outages, GIS, smart meters,
work, crew and asset management systems, customer and financial
systems to develop Grid Planning and Operational Analytics to
optimize capital investments that enhance reliability and
The ideal candidate will have a PhD (quantitative discipline)
with strong hands-on data science experience solving customer or
engineering problems using predictive modeling, machine learning
and artificial intelligence on large complex data sets. This
position requires a leader with strong ninja coding skills, and
extensive experience with machine learning, deep learning, and

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for enabling Exelon Utilities to
extract knowledge and insights from smart grid and customer data to
generate actionable intelligence, improve decision making, drive
innovation, and unlock new business insights. Specifically, this
data will include time-series (smart-meters, smart-grid, and other
IoT), structured (relational data stores), and unstructured (text
and multi-media) data.
Closely collaborate with various internal stakeholders, data
engineers, project/program managers, external partners, and other
teams to turn data into critical information to inform decision
making and deploy data-driven analytics-based solutions. This
requires understanding business needs and strategic priorities,
providing and receiving regular feedback, and planning the proper
transfer of developed solutions. Validate findings with the
business by sharing analysis outputs in a way that can be
understood by business stakeholders.
Build high-quality prediction systems that solve our customer's
business problems by applying data mining, machine learning, deep
learning, and high-performance computing. Perform statistical
analysis, exploring, interpreting, and analyzing datasets for
patterns of interest. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
and professional development, share knowledge with team members,
and business stakeholders, and IT partners. Use your skills to
manage several projects running in parallel, mentor junior peers
and oversee their activities where needed.
Model business problems to machine learning ones, mapping
business data to dependent and independent features, doing feature
engineering, iterating with different predictive models, conducting
