THIS IS A 100% GRANT FUNDED POSITION
The following are the functions essential to performing this
Assists coordinator of Technical Services with digital projects
Properly handle fragile, brittle rare library materials.
Scan microforms (microbooks, microfilm, microfiche, monographs,
Keeps abreast of developments in electronic publishing,
networking and indexing to design methods for including off-site
access to electronic documents in library's OPAC, including images,
full text, etc.
Assists in the quality control functions for the Library
Correct color and manipulate images as required using provided
Scan and rescans original documents as needed.
Assists in the creation of metadata for digital images.
Prepares digital files for upload into Library Server.
Organizes, prepares, and submits statistics and other reports as
Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database
software applications preferred.
Integrates production of metadata into the work of the Technical
Knowledge of libraries, library content, library industry
standards, and library information retrieval systems.
Perform Circulation duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual in this job must possess these skills and
abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can
perform the essential functions of the job, with or without
reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills
Scan and edit digital images for consistent look using
Record technical, item, and structural metadata information in
Ability to operate a computer, flatbed scanner, ALOS Microfiche
Reader and Zeutschel book scanner.
Copy cataloging experience.
Familiarity with integrated library system(s) cataloging
Experience working in an academic university environment.
A strong combination of Library of Congress (LC) MARC
bibliographic records and technical skills.
Effective oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of emerging library technologies.
Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or
Proficiency using Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP (GNU
Image Manipulation Program), Paint.net, and other digitizing
Working knowledge of metadata schemes other than MARC. (e.g.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
