tend sewing machines to join, reinforce, decorate, or perform
related sewing operations in the manufacture of our products.
*Essential Responsibilities:
- Sews materials by hand and/or sewing machine, to join, gather,
reinforce, or decorate materials or fabricated articles
- Cuts materials, according to specifications, or cuts excess
material or thread from finished product, using blade, scissors, or
electric knife
- Examines and measures finished articles to verify conformance
to standards, using ruler
- Folds or fits together materials to prepare for machine sewing
or hand sewing
- Monitors machine operation to detect problems, such as
defective stitching, breaks in thread, or machine malfunction
- Mounts attachments, such as needles, and adjusts machine guides
according to specifications
- Places spools of thread, cord, or other materials on spindles,
inserts bobbin, and threads ends through machine guides and
components
- Positions and marks patterns on materials to prepare for sewing
- Positions materials through feed rollers and guides, or
positions and maneuvers under sewing machine presser foot and
needle during operation
- Records amount of materials processed in production logs
- Removes finished materials from sewing machine
- Replaces needle and cleans/oils sewing machines to maintain
equipment
- Responsible for the quality and accuracy of the product
fabrication according to the work instructions and/or drawing
- Responsible to adhere to the current General Manufacturing
Practices (cGMP) for all products
- Uses specialized automatic or semi-automatic sewing equipment
and other equipment as required to fabricate products Associate
Sewing Operator Qualifications:
- Must fulfill all the General Qualifications noted above
- Must have basic sewing skills and submit to an evaluation
period to determine skill level going forward; up to 12 months in a
training period is possible and a formal evaluation of aptitude is
required. Time in position is not necessarily a factor in promotion
to the next level.
- General Qualifications:
- Must be able to work on government contracts directly or access
shared data resources (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the
U.S.)
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, e.g., GED
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English (read,
write, speak)
- Must be knowledgeable of basic math and English measurement
(versus metric)
- Must be able to work all production shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or
weekends)
- Demonstrated communication and team collaboration skills
- Must successfully pass ILC Dover sewing aptitude test Work
