JOB DESCRIPTIONPress Brake operators utilize a hydraulic press equipment, CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) that breaks, bends, punches, or cuts stainless steel according to the specifications provided by blueprints/drawings received from Industrial Engineering department. The individual must have attention to detail, and quality driven skills to ensure the integrity and maintain the quality of the company product lines.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read blueprints/plans to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Selects, installs and aligns dies, punches, cutting tools, guides and stops to setup machine. Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule or templates
  • Positions work piece against stops and aligns layout marks with die or blade
  • Adjusts settings od dies on computer aided or CNC controls with assistance, to meet products specifications and quality standards
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction
  • Measures work piece dimensions using various measuring devices such as protractor and caliper to determine accuracy of machine operation
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as lubrication machines, dies or work pieces
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece using various hand tools or machine processes
  • Stacks, marks, packs and transports finished work pieces to next work station using routings and dispatches
  • Performs quality checks on work pieces to meet specified quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Duties and responsibilities vary based on department SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • Reading and understanding blueprints
    • Must have average PC abilities
    • Ability to learn measuring devices such as a caliper, micrometer, tape measure, squares and protractor
    • Abilities to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, commons fractions and decimals
    • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
    • Solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardized exists
    • Interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
    • Basic/Intermediate computer skills, understanding of CAD/CAM a plus
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position (standing for long periods of time; repetitive movements)EDUCATION & TRAINING
      • High School diploma or equivalent
      • Vocational School/Technical College apprentice ships/certifications
      • Strong aptitude for mathKNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
        • Knowledge of understanding complex instructions, how schematics work
        • Problem solving experience and able to develop an understanding of how the press brake works or how to obtain more efficiency.

          WORKING CONDITIONSWORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Also performing this job, you will be exposed regularly to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemical. The employee frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and high, precarious places. The noise level is usually very loud.
