Purpose:Responsible for sampling, analyzing, and performing
compliance tasks and studies associated with the Safe Drinking
Water Act (SDWA) and treatment optimization for VEOLIA DE and PA
operations. These tasks are related to the collection, analyses,
and reporting of SDWA compliance samples for both existing and
emerging regulations. This includes but is not limited to reviewing
compliance governmental or organizational databases for accuracy
and maintaining and meeting a schedule to collect, analyze or
deliver to a certified laboratory for analysis all samples needed
to meet monitoring requirements. Correctly, completing, maintaining
and delivering all sample collection documentation and samples to
the proper party as well as maintaining and accurately updating or
changing any database or excel spreadsheets used for data
storage.Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct bacteriological and chemical sample collection and/or
analyses as required by federal and state regulatory agencies.
- Prepares and maintains required records and reports of the
analyses to report to applicable agencies.
- Ability to analyze raw and finished water quality, treatment
levels and unique consumer quality problems through sampling,
qualitative, and quantitative laboratory testing.
- Perform other water quality monitoring, sample collection and
analysis as directed in order to monitor the effectiveness of the
treatment processes, or to optimize treatment for groundwater and
surface water systems.
- Participate in studies and projects to enhance compliance and
optimize treatment methods and/or quality of product as it relates
to unregulated contaminants.
- Network with local regulatory officials, commercial
laboratories and customers to develop and/or maintain a positive
working relationship to support the company.
- Respond to Water Quality complaints or issues, taking
appropriate corrective action including notification to
management.
- Prepares laboratory bottles, sampling kits/coolers and chains
of custody for sample collection and relinquishment.
- Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
- Completing Lead and Copper Rule compliance tasks including
entering premise service locations to sample, record, and identify
water service line material type and diameter.
- Follow all company policy and procedures in regards to safety
including wearing appropriate PPE for each situation.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.Work Environment:This
position will work in a variety of environments to include: outside
during inclement weather, inside water/wastewater plants, customer
premises, pumping stations, roadways and other areas that are
required to complete sample
collection.QualificationsEducation/Experience/Background:
- HS Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
- Associates or Bachelors preferred in Environmental Science or
related field.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Google Workspace and
using analyzers to determine water quality results.
- Ability to prioritize workload to maintain efficiency and
completing all assigned tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems and abnormal
conditions in sample collection, laboratory or treatment processes
and resolve these using problem-solving skills and analytical
techniques.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management,
co-workers, customers, and regulatory agencies utilizing excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to interact positively and professionally with
customers and other stakeholders daily and adequately communicate
their needs to others while addressing any issues or
complaints.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Ability to walk on uneven terrain and climb ladders.
- Ability to lift 30lbs.
- Ability to work independent with little supervision.
- Ability to read, write, create reports and presentations.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize time sensitive tasks.
