Seeking an energetic, responsible, organized, detail-oriented, attentive and efficient laboratory technician to prepare needed materials for testing (agar plates, weighing out chemical and samples, etc.), maintain microbial cultures, clean and maintain lab supplies and equipment and coordinate the purchase of required supplies . The position may also include assisting in the evaluation of customer materials using standard methods as well as customized microbiological testing methods. The methodology will include using both manual techniques and automated equipment. Testing involves culturing bacteria, yeast, mold, and algae and handling of chemicals for preservative efficacy determination . The applicant is expected to maintain a safe and clean laboratory, work safely in an R&D environment, and actively participate in company safety programs.




Skills/Experience:


Desired Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a Biological Science or Chemical Science, with a preference for Microbiology or related experience,.

Experience with the following are also preferred:

o Microbial Culture Media and buffer preparation

o Aseptic technique and manipulation of microorganisms

o Familiarity with common equipment such as single (multi) channel pipettes, autoclave, centrifuge

o Awareness of biosafety procedures

Good written and verbal communication skills

Great organizational skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word

A self-starter with ability to balance multiple tasks on different timelines

Proven ability and passion for working within a highly collaborative environment.
