Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste
management in the Northeast U.S., is seeking a disciplined and
committed Safety Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you
will be instrumental in overseeing and enhancing our safety
protocols, ensuring both compliance with regulatory standards and
the promotion of a safe working environment for all employees. As a
Safety Supervisor, your expertise will help us maintain our
commitment to safe, ethical waste management practices, minimizing
risk and fostering a culture of safety at all levels of operation.
Develop, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures
that comply with local, state, and federal environmental, health,
and safety regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and risk
assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance
with safety standards. Coordinate and lead safety training sessions
for employees on a regular basis to ensure staff are aware of and
can effectively implement safety protocols. Investigate accidents
or incidents to discover causes and oversee the implementation of
preventive measures. Maintain records of safety inspections,
incidents, and other safety-related activities. Serve as the
primary contact for all regulatory bodies related to workplace
safety issues, including OSHA. Advise on and assist with the
procurement of safety equipment and supplies. Report regularly to
senior management on safety performance and issues. Strong
knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance
requirements in waste management or related industries. Excellent
organizational and leadership skills. Ability to develop and
provide training. Proficient in the use of MS Office and
industry-related software. Strong analytical and problem-solving
skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Certified
Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
preferred. OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response
(HAZWOPER) certification.
